WORLD ATTENDANCE RECORD EXPECTED IN HISTORIC HOCKEY GAME
(Windsor, ON, February 9, 2012) The NHL announced today that the Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs for the next Winter Classic in a historic match expected to smash world attendance records. The game will be held at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on January 1, 2013.
The world record for attendance at a hockey game was set December 11, 2010 when 104,173 fans watched Michigan play their rivals from Michigan State in a college contest. Three years later, this sell-out game is expected to draw over 100,000 and create a new world record.
